The following product safety recall was voluntarily conducted by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Consumers should stop using the product immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Name of Product: Legacy Propane Infrared Plaque Heaters

Units: About 10,200. All recalled heaters have been returned to CFM.

Distributor: CFM Corporation, of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada

Manufacturer: Chant Kitchen Equipment, of Guandong, China

Hazard: Carbon monoxide hazard. A non-specification gasket around the heating plaques could allow heater carbon monoxide emissions to leak into the area in which the heater is being used.

Incidents/Injuries: No injuries or incidents of property damage have been reported.

Description: The heaters are propane infrared plaque space heaters sold after September 1, 2005. The units are rectangular in shape and the casing has a white finish. The heaters can be mounted on walls or stand on the floor. The name "Legacy" is centered on the front of the heater immediately below the grill. Affected units have one of the following model numbers:

RMC-LI6LP RMC-LI10LP RMC-LI10LPT RMC-LI18LP-F
RMC-LI18LPT-F RMC-LI30LP-F RMC-LI30LPT-F  


The model number is located on the right side panel of the unit. All of the heaters were listed by the Canadian Standards Association.

Sold by: Heating and hardware retailers, and HVAC dealers in the U.S. sold these heaters from September 2005 through November 2005 for between $156 and $290.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: The firm is no longer in business, and a remedy is no longer available. Consumers should discard or destroy the product.

CPSC, The Coleman Company, Inc. Announce the Recall to Repair Coleman® Gas Grills and Patio Heaters
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), The Coleman Company, Inc., of Wichita, Kan. and TPA Metals and Machinery of China are voluntarily recalling about 124,000 Coleman Gas Grills and about 6,200 Coleman Patio Heaters. The regulators on these products can leak propane when the propane cylinder is turned on and the product is not in use. This can pose a fire or explosion hazard.

CPSC, DESA Heating Products and Scheu Manufacturing Co. Announce Recall of Propane Heaters
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), DESA Heating Products, of Bowling Green, Ky., and Scheu Manufacturing Co., of Upland, Calif. are voluntarily recalling about 588,000 "ALL-PRO", "Reddy Heater" and "MASTER" Infrared (Tank Top) Propane Heaters. The plastic ring on the heater's regulator can crack, causing gas to leak out if the propane tank and heater regulator are turned on. This can create a fire hazard if an ignition source is present.

CPSC, Cans Unlimited, Inc. Announce Recall of Kerosene Heaters/ Cookers

The recalled units are not approved for use indoors. Use indoors can lead to injury and possibly death from carbon monoxide poisoning. The cookers also do not have an automatic extinguishing mechanism that would operate if they turned over and lack adequate guarding.

CPSC And RMC Announce Retrofit Of Ct-1200 Kerosene Heaters

The original wick holders may fail during use, preventing the shutoff switch and tip-over safety mechanism from extinguishing the heater.
