Recall Details
This recall includes Kolcraft Tender Vibes bassinets with model numbers KB021-ARC, KB022-VER, KB039-CMR1 and Light Vibes bassinet with model number KB043-BNT1. A label with the model/item number of the bassinet is located on one of the legs of the metal frame. The recalled bassinets were manufactured from July 2008 through May 2010. The words "Kolcraft Tender Vibes" or "Kolcraft Light Vibes" is located on the removable music box which is attached to the side of the bassinet.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bassinets and contact the firm by phone or on-line to receive a repair kit and instructions for securing the latches to the metal frame. In the meantime, parents are urged to find an alternate, safe sleeping environment for the child, such as a crib that meets current safety standards or play yard depending on the child's age.
CPSC and Kolcraft have received seven reports of latches that detached from the bassinet frame. One infant received a bruised cheek when the bassinet detached from the metal frame and landed sideways on the floor with the infant inside.

The spacing between some of the crib’s slats is wider than allowed under the federal safety standard, posing an entrapment hazard to children.
The recalled crib bumpers violate the federal crib bumper ban, posing a suffocation hazard to infants. Padded crib bumpers are banned by the federal Safe Sleep for Babies Act.
The swing should never be used for sleep and bedding materials should never be added to it. If the product is used for sleep or bedding material is added, the headrest and body support insert on the seat pad can increase the risk of suffocation.
The recalled playpens violate the federal safety regulations for play yards. The included basketball hoop accessory can be a head entrapment hazard and children can become entrapped beneath the mattress, posing a suffocation hazard.
The recalled Baby Tummy Time Gallery art card pockets have clear plastic coverings that contain levels of a phthalate that exceeds the federal phthalates ban. Phthalates are toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.
The recalled high chairs violate the regulations for high chairs, as the leg openings on the high chair are too wide, posing an entrapment hazard to infants. Additionally, the high chairs pose a fall hazard because the tray can become disengaged from the product.

Deaths, injuries, and property damage from consumer product-related incidents cost the nation more than $1 trillion annually. CPSC's work to ensure the safety of consumer products has contributed to a decline in the rate of injuries associated with consumer products over the past 50 years.
Federal law prohibits any person from selling products subject to a Commission ordered recall or a voluntary recall undertaken in consultation with the CPSC.
