Acting Chairman Peter A. Feldman Announces Key Senior Staff
WASHINGTON, DC -- Today, Peter A. Feldman, Acting Chairman of the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the following promotions and key senior staff appointments:
Nicole G. Brightbill to serve as CPSC Chief of Staff. Ms. Brightbill is being promoted to this position, having served Commissioner Feldman as Chief Counsel since 2024. Prior to joining CPSC, Ms. Brightbill served as Principal Deputy Special Counsel in the U.S. Office of Special Counsel and as Senior Counsel in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Policy at the U.S. Department of Labor. She began her career with Kirkland & Ellis LLP, following a clerkship on the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Ms. Brightbill graduated from the University of Virginia and George Washington University Law School.
Thomas P. Fuller to serve as Senior Counsel. Mr. Fuller is being promoted to this position having previously served Commissioner Feldman as Counsel since 2022. Prior to his work at CPSC, Mr. Fuller served as the Deputy Special Counsel for Legislative Affairs at the U.S. Office of Special Counsel. His government experience also includes service as Counsel on the U.S. Senate Committee on the Budget. Mr. Fuller received his B.S. in Biology from Stevenson University and J.D. from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law.
John Mitchell to serve as Director of Legislative Affairs. Mr. Mitchell has served Commissioner Feldman as Senior Advisor since 2023. Before joining CPSC, he was Editorial Director of the U.S. Senate Republican Policy Committee under several Chairmen, including Senator John Thune, Senator John Barrasso, and Senator Roy Blunt. He also served as Speechwriter for the Attorney General at the U.S. Department of Justice and was a writer, editor, and reporter at Reader’s Digest magazine. Mr. Mitchell received his B.A. in Government from the College of William and Mary.
Asha Allam to serve as Acting General Counsel. Ms. Allam is currently a Senior Trial Attorney in the Division of Enforcement and Litigation of CPSC’s Office of Compliance and Field Operations, where she has worked since 2021. Previously, she was a Partner at Adduci, Mastriani & Schaumberg LLP, litigating unfair competition claims before the U.S. International Trade Commission. Ms. Allam holds a B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin and a J.D. from George Washington University Law School.
Pamela Rucker Springs will serve as Director of the Office of Communications. Ms. Springs has served in this position since 2022. She previously was Vice President of Communications at United Way Worldwide and Vice President of Communications at National Urban League. Her prior government work includes service in the U. S. Senate for the Office of the Republican Leader under Senator Bob Dole. Ms. Springs received her B.A. in Communications from American University.
Jennifer Sultan will serve as Acting Director of the Office of Compliance and Field Operations. Ms. Sultan has been at CPSC since 2019 and is currently the Deputy Director of that office. She previously served as Programs Branch Director in the Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Prior to working at DHS, Ms. Sultan was a Trial Attorney and Supervisory Attorney in the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division from 2002-2017. After receiving a B.A. from Cornell University and a J.D. from Northwestern University, Ms. Sultan worked as a litigation associate for Fulbright & Jaworski LLP in New York.
In addition, Acting Chairman Feldman announced that Austin Schlick will remain as Executive Director to ensure a smooth and orderly transition. Mr. Schlick has served in this role since 2024 and previously was CPSC’s General Counsel.
