Division of Field Operations

CPSC’s Division of Field Operations, known as, “The Field,” is the eyes and ears of the agency.  Our dedicated staff is located throughout the United States.

We are responsible for a wide variety of activities including: investigating product safety related incidents, collecting samples of hazardous or non-complying products, inspecting companies that manufacture or distribute consumer products in to commerce, marketplace surveillance, conducting outreach education activities, liaising with federal, state, and local government officials who also work in the product safety and injury prevention area, overseeing e-commerce activities to ensure compliance with product safety regulations, and ensuring recalled goods are removed from sale and do not re-enter the marketplace.
