VOLUNTARY STANDARDS – Draft ANSI/ROHVA
Proposed changes do not address rollovers. Industry standards propose “tilt-table” tests. In response, CPSC urges testing a vehicle’s stability while actually driving the vehicles. Industry standards propose “constant steer angle test on pavement.” In response, CPSC advises that there are no vehicle standards, tests or significance in driving in a small circle until the tires lift.

VOLUNTARY STANDARDS – Draft ANSI/OPEI
Industry standards propose 180 degree J-turns. In response, CPSC points out that standard would require many makers to adjust their current turning ratio to pass the test, but would not improve stability of the vehicle.
Both industry standards propose a blinking light for eight seconds to remind passengers to fasten their seatbelts. CPSC points to data that show this as ineffective.
