Commissioner Buerkle Visits with Delegation from Vietnam's Directorate for Standards, Metrology and Quality

December 16, 2013

Commissioner Buerkle holds picture with Delegation Vietnam’s Directorate STAMEQ Today, I had the honor of meeting a delegation from Vietnam’s Directorate for Standards, Metrology and Quality (STAMEQ). This marks the first time members of STAMEQ have visited the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

CPSC has done a wonderful job of working with STAMEQ on behalf of consumers, including to help prevent hazardous component parts from being included in products that are imported into the United States. I look forward to CPSC hosting a fellow from QUATEST2, one of STAMEQ’s testing laboratories, next year. Given that Vietnam is the 8th largest source of imported consumer goods, a strong positive relationship with Vietnam strongly benefits CPSC’s mission.

I appreciated meeting the delegation and having the opportunity to discuss future collaboration. I look forward to continuing to strengthen and build the relationship between CPSC and STAMEQ during my time at CPSC.
