The following product safety recall was voluntarily conducted by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
Name of Product: Rechargeable Batteries for Cordless Phones
Units: About 1,400
Importer: Lenmar Enterprises, of Camarillo, Calif.
Manufacturer: Great Power Battery Co., of China
Hazard: The rechargeable batteries can overheat, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers.
Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received six reports of batteries overheating, resulting in deformation of phones. No injuries have been reported.
Description: The recall involves the rechargeable batteries with the model number CB0217 2.4 volt 1500 mAh NiMH. Only batteries with date code 0809 are affected by this recall. The date code can be found on the back of the battery. The batteries were sold as replacement batteries for the following phones:

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled batteries and contact Lenmar to receive a free replacement.
