CPSC, American Greetings Corporation Announce Recall of Fairy Wand Party Favors
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
Name of Product: DesignWare® 4 Fairy Wands
Units: About 14,200 packages containing four wands each
Distributor: American Greetings Corporation, of Cleveland, Ohio
Hazard: The fairy wand party favors can break apart, exposing sharp wires that pose a laceration hazard to children.
Incidents/Injuries: No injuries have been reported.
Description: The recalled fairy wands are pink or purple with multi-colored beads, feathers and ribbons. The wands are 7-inches long. There are four wands in each package. The packaging has a light pink cardboard backer. Model number WAND1361 is written on the back of the packaging.
Sold at: Discount, toy, drug, grocery, party and specialty gift stores nationwide from March 2003 through September 2005 for about $4.
Manufactured In: China
Remedy: Consumers should take the recalled wands away from young children immediately. Contact the firm for a coupon redeemable wherever American Greetings products are sold.
